For glowing and healthy skin, it is crucial to achieve & maintain skin hydration levels, both from the inside & outside. Hydration is a combination of good habits from both inside & outside, taking a well-rounded diet, proper skincare products and more. Let us discuss what measures can be taken daily to maintain optimum hydration levels in your skin along with some skincare products that help hydrate the skin effectively.
Lack of moisture in the skin level tends to be more visible and hydrated skin is more resilient, supple & radiant. Less hydration can lead to dryness, flakiness and even premature ageing. Proper hydration helps maintain the skin’s barrier, protects against environmental stressors and keeps the skin youthful & healthy.
Drink Plenty of Water: One of the simplest yet most effective ways to hydrate skin is by drinking plenty of water. Aim for at least eight glasses a day. Water helps flush out toxins from your body and keeps your skin hydrated and cells plump.
Eat Hydrating Foods: Incorporate water-rich foods into your diet, such as cucumbers, watermelon, oranges, and strawberries. These foods not only hydrate the skin but also provide essential vitamins and antioxidants.
Limit Caffeine and Alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol can dehydrate your skin. Try to limit your intake of these substances and opt for herbal teas and water instead.
Cleanse Gently: Use a gentle cleanser that doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils. The Body Shop's Aloe Calming Foaming Wash is a great choice for a gentle yet effective cleanse, perfect for sensitive skin types.
Exfoliate Regularly: Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, allowing your hydrating products to penetrate deeper. However, be careful not to over-exfoliate, as this can damage the skin barrier. Aim to exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
Use a Hydrating Toner: A good toner can prep your skin for better absorption of serums and moisturizers. The Body Shop's Vitamin E Hydrating Toner is excellent for adding an extra layer of moisture and balancing the skin's pH.
Apply Serums: Serums are lightweight and penetrate deeply into the skin, delivering powerful ingredients. Look for a serum with hyaluronic acid, which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The Body Shop’s Drops of Youth™ Youth Concentrate is a fantastic serum that hydrates and rejuvenates the skin.
Moisturize Daily: Moisturizers are essential for locking in hydration. Choose a moisturizer based on your skin type. For normal to dry skin, The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Moisture Cream provides deep hydration without feeling greasy. For those with combination to oily skin, the Seaweed Oil-Control Gel Cream offers hydration while controlling excess oil.
Use a Hydrating Mask: Incorporate a hydrating mask into your routine once or twice a week for an extra boost of moisture. The Body Shop's British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask is infused with rose essence and provides intense hydration, leaving the skin soft and plump.
Following a consistent skincare routine, drinking plenty of water, eating hydrating fruits & vegetables & using the right skincare products can help you achieve optimal skin hydration levels. We suggest trying out The Body Shop’s Aloe Calming Foaming Wash, followed by Vitamin E Hydrating Toner, sealing it with Seaweed Oil Control Gel Cream and finally going for a British Rose Fresh Plumpling Mask weekly to get that hydrated glowing skin you’ve always wanted!
